Connecting your bank accounts to RentRedi Accounting makes it easier to track expenses and keep your financial records organized. Bank feeds import eligible transactions automatically, helping you spend less time on manual data entry and more time managing your properties.
To get the most out of your bank connections, it's helpful to understand how far back transactions can be imported, what each connection status means, and how to resolve common syncing issues.
Importing Transactions Older Than 180 Days
Bank feeds can import transactions from the last 180 days. Due to limitations of the bank feed integration through Stripe and financial institutions, transactions older than 180 days can't be synced automatically.
Need to include older expenses in your Accounting portfolio?
You can use the following options to keep your historical records and supporting documents organized.
Bulk Receipt Upload: Upload multiple receipts at once to organize supporting documentation for past expenses.
Upload Statements: Upload bank or credit card statements to retain records of older transactions and maintain documentation for your accounting records.
Understanding Bank Account Statuses
Each linked bank account displays a status badge to help you monitor its connection and identify when action is needed.
Connected: The connection is active, and transactions can sync normally.
Error: The connection couldn't be refreshed or is no longer active. New transactions won't sync until the issue is resolved.
Sync Paused: Transaction syncing has been manually paused. You can resume syncing from the account's Actions menu.
Tip: Checking your account status regularly can help you identify connection issues and keep your expense records up to date.
Common Reasons for Bank Connection Errors
A bank account may display an Error status for several reasons, including:
You changed your online banking username or password.
Your bank requires you to reauthorize the connection because access has expired.
You need to complete multi-factor authentication again.
The account was closed, renamed, or moved at your bank.
Your bank is experiencing a temporary service outage.
How to Fix a Bank Connection Error
If your bank account displays an Error status, follow these steps to reconnect it and resume syncing.
Go to Accounting ➜ Bank Accounts.
Find the bank account displaying the Error badge.
Reconnect the account and complete your bank's login and verification steps.
Once the status returns to Connected, go to Accounting ➜ Expenses ➜ Needs Review to check the transactions that come in.
How to Resume Syncing for a Paused Account
If your bank account displays Sync Paused, you can resume syncing from your dashboard.
Go to Accounting ➜ Bank Accounts.
Find the account displaying the Sync Paused badge.
Open the account's Actions menu.
Select Resume Syncing.
Once syncing resumes, check your account status and review incoming transactions under Accounting ➜ Expenses ➜ Needs Review.
