Need to record a payment that covers multiple charges? 🤔

You can apply a manual payment across a tenant’s outstanding charges in one place, whether the payment covers part of the balance or pays multiple charges in full. 🎉

Follow the steps below to record the payment and keep your records up to date.

Apply a Payment to Multiple Charges

Use this option to record a manual payment, such as cash or a check received outside RentRedi, and apply it to a tenant’s outstanding charges.

  1. From your RentRedi dashboard, click ❯❯ (Expand sidebar) at the top left.

  2. Go to Payments ➜ Rent & Charges.

  3. Click + Add Payment.

  4. Select the property, unit, and tenant.

  5. Select the charges you want to apply the payment to.

  6. Enter the payment amount, date paid, and payment method. Add notes if needed.

  7. Click Apply to apply the payment details to the selected charges.

  8. Click Mark As Paid to save the payment.

Note: Mark As Paid is only available when the payment amount matches the total amount applied. The payment is applied to the oldest balance first, then to newer charges until the payment amount is allocated.

Mark Multiple Charges as Fully Paid

To mark multiple charges as fully paid, follow the same steps above and select the charges you want to pay in full. Enter the payment details, click Apply, then click Mark As Paid.

Note: The payment amount must cover the total amount applied to the selected charges. If the payment amount exceeds that total, the payment won't be saved. RentRedi will suggest a lower amount you can use to mark the selected charges as fully paid.
