Check a Tenant's Insurance Status

You can quickly check a tenant's insurance status from your Tenants list.

  1. From your RentRedi dashboard, click ❯❯ (Expand sidebar) at the top left.

  2. Go to Tenants.

  3. In the Current tab, look under the Action column.

You'll see badges showing the tenant's Invite, Insurance, Autopay, and Credit Boosting status.

🛡️ Renter's Insurance Status

  • Red shield: The tenant hasn't provided proof of renters insurance. Click the icon to notify the tenant that they need to provide proof of insurance.

  • Green shield: The tenant has provided proof of insurance and is marked as insured.

💡 Tip: Tenants can also purchase renters insurance directly through the RentRedi app.

Require Renters Insurance

If your lease requires renters insurance, you can mark it as required in RentRedi. The tenant will then be prompted to provide proof of insurance.

When adding a new tenant

When adding a new tenant, Renter's Insurance is marked as required by default.

If your lease doesn't require renters insurance, you can uncheck this option before adding the tenant.

For an existing tenant

If a tenant has already been added and renters insurance wasn't previously required, you can update their insurance requirement from their tenant profile.

Other Insurance Options

You can also manage a tenant's insurance directly from their tenant profile.

Ask to Insure

Use Ask to Insure to notify a tenant that they need to provide renters insurance. This sends the tenant a notification, but does not require them to provide proof of insurance.

Mark Insured

If a tenant has provided proof of insurance outside of RentRedi, you can manually mark them as insured. Select Mark Insured from the tenant's insurance options.

What's the difference?

  • Required renters insurance policy: The tenant needs to provide proof of insurance. Their status changes to insured when they provide their proof of insurance.

  • Ask to Insure: Sends the tenant a notification asking them to provide renters insurance, but doesn't require them to do so.

  • Mark Insured: Manually marks the tenant as insured when they've provided proof of insurance outside of RentRedi.
