Or, watch the video!

You can also follow the step-by-step instructions below: πŸ‘‡

  1. From your RentRedi dashboard, click the plus (+) Create New button on the left-hand side.

  2. Under Charges, select Rent or Other Charge.

  3. Enter the charge details:

    1. Amount β€” Enter the rent or charge amount.

    1. Lease Start & End Dates β€” Select the lease period for the charge.

    2. Month-to-Month (Optional) β€” Check this box if the lease is month-to-month.

    3. + Schedule a New Lease (Optional) β€” Create a future lease schedule in advance. This is helpful for planned rent increases, lease renewals, or long-term tenants with upcoming lease changes.

    4. Charge Every β€” Choose how often the charge repeats (monthly, bi-monthly, custom schedule, etc.).

    5. On the β€” Select the due date for the charge.

    6. Send Rent Reminders (Optional) β€” Enabled by default. Tenants will automatically receive reminders before rent is due (and every day after). This setting can be updated later if needed.

    7. Require Tenants to Pay Oldest Charges First (Optional) β€” When enabled, tenants must pay any past-due balances before paying current charges.

  4. Click Next to continue.

  5. Select the Property & Unit and choose the tenant(s) who should see the charge.

    • Only selected tenants will be able to view and pay the charge.

    • (Optional) Enable Credit Boost to report eligible on-time rent payments and help tenants build their credit history.

  6. Click Next to review the charges.

    • Preview how the charges will be scheduled based on the amount, frequency, due date, and lease dates.

    • You can make final edits to the amount or description, duplicate charges, or delete charges, if needed.

  7. Click Create Charges to finish.

Done! πŸŽ‰ Your charges have now been successfully created.

Helpful Notes πŸ’‘

  • Charges are your requests for money owed by tenants.

  • Payments are then made by tenants toward each charge.

  • Charges will appear in the tenant’s app as money due.

  • You can create recurring rent charges for the entire lease all at once β€” then relax!

Delete Overlapping Charges

If there are already charges set up for the same property and unit, you may see the option to Delete Overlapping Charges.

Choose the following based on your situation:

  • No, Keep All Charges
Select this when creating charges for a new set of tenants (for example, move-in tenants). This keeps the existing charges for old tenants on the same property and unit.

  • Yes, Delete Overlapping Charges
Select this when recreating or replacing a lease, and you want to remove previously scheduled overlapping charges. For example, when setting up a corrected lease or updated rent schedule.

Don’t worry β€” deleting overlapping charges will not remove charges that have already been paid by the tenant.
