At RentRedi, we want to make sure rent status and late fees are applied accurately while also being mindful of when notifications are sent. Here’s how our system handles late rent checks and notifications.

How Late Rent Is Determined

Our system checks for unpaid rent at 12:00 AM (midnight) in the property’s local time zone. If rent is still unpaid at that time:

  • The rent is marked as late

  • Any applicable late fees are applied based on the lease or charge settings

  • A late rent notification is prepared to be sent to the tenant

Why Notifications Are Sent Later in the Day

While rent is evaluated at midnight, notifications are not sent immediately. To avoid disturbing tenants during overnight hours, late rent emails are sent later in the day following the late determination.

Because of this delay, it is possible for a tenant to:

  • Be marked late at midnight

  • Pay rent early in the morning

  • And still receive a notification later that day stating rent was late as of midnight

This notification is informational and reflects the rent status at the time of the system check. ✅

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why did I receive a late notice if I already paid today?
If your rent was unpaid at midnight, the system marked it as late and scheduled a notification. If you submitted payment afterward, you can just ignore the notice.

The notification says my rent was late at 12:00 AM. What does this mean?

This means that the system did not detect a full payment at midnight in the property’s local time zone.

What if I paid outside of RentRedi?
If your rent still appears unpaid in the app but you paid your landlord outside of RentRedi, your landlord or property manager can manually mark the charge as paid in RentRedi.

If you have questions about late fees or payment status, we recommend contacting your landlord or property manager directly, as they control charge settings and payment records.
