When you log a trip under Accounting ➜ Mileage, RentRedi calculates the deduction for you: miles driven × the IRS standard mileage rate that applies to the date of the trip.
The Rate Is Based on the Trip Date
RentRedi uses the IRS mileage rate that applies on the date of the trip, not the date you enter or edit the mileage record.
The IRS may change its standard mileage rate during the year. For 2026:
Trips dated before July 1, 2026 use 72.5¢ per mile.
Trips dated July 1, 2026, or later use 76¢ per mile.
Example:
A 100-mile trip on June 15, 2026 would calculate to $72.50.
A 100-mile trip on July 15, 2026 would calculate to $76.00.
Existing Mileage Entries
Mileage entries saved before a rate update keep the rate that was applied when they were saved.
The applicable rate is updated when you:
Add a new mileage entry.
Edit and re-save an existing entry.
If you need an older entry recalculated using the rate for its trip date, open the entry, verify the trip date and mileage, and save it again.
Where Your Mileage Deduction Appears
Your mileage deduction can be included in the following reports when Include Mileage Deduction is enabled:
Schedule E: Included under Line 6: Auto & Travel.
Profit & Loss: Included in the report.
Income and Expenses: Included in the report.
Only mileage linked to a property is included in these reports. Be sure to select a property when logging a trip.
